Microsoft and salesforce.com Enter Partnership

Microsoft and salesforce.com announced a strategic partnership to create new solutions that connect salesforce.com's customer relationship management (CRM) apps and platform to Microsoft Office and Windows.

The companies plan to deliver the following solutions:


  • Salesforce for Windows and Windows Phone 8.1. Will enable customers to access Salesforce and run their business from their Windows devices. A preview is planned to be available in fall 2014 with general availability in 2015.
  • Salesforce for Office 365. New interoperability between Salesforce and Office 365 will give customers access to the content they need to collaborate, sell, service and market from virtually anywhere. Plans include the ability to:
  • Access, share, edit and collaborate on Office content from within Salesforce and on Salesforce1 using Office Mobile, Office for iPad and Office 365.
  • Use OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online as integrated storage options for Salesforce.
  • Use Salesforce and Outlook together with a new Salesforce App for Outlook.
  • Connect Salesforce data to Excel and Power BI for Office 365 to visualize information and find new insights.

AT&T's NetBond Links Customer VPNs Directly to Salesforce

AT&T customers will soon be able to link their Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) directly to Salesforce cloud services.

AT&T's NetBond capability will connect to Salesforce services directly from an AT&T MPLS VPN from any location on the private network. AT&T said its NetBond is designed to match the simplicity and elasticity of cloud computing services like Salesforce.

“The addition of choice in how users connect to Salesforce is game changing for enterprise customers who need high performing and reliable access to industry-leading cloud services,” said Andy Geisse, CEO, AT&T Business Solutions. “This is an important addition to our growing AT&T NetBond ecosystem and will further accelerate enterprise cloud adoption.”

AT&T highlighted the following advantages for NetBond:

  • Simple: Seamlessly works with existing AT&T VPN through APIs creating an automated experience; no additional equipment or access lines required to order or manage. 
  • Savings: Network elasticity that automatically flexes with the needs of the cloud service; companies can save as much as 60 percent on networking costs. 
  • Performance: Delivers as much as 50 percent lower latency and 3x availability when compared to the public Internet. 
  • Protection: Isolates traffic going directly to cloud platforms using the AT&T private global network, providing additional protections from risks such as DDoS attacks.

Dreamforce in SF Attracts 135,000 Registrants - Power of Cloud

Salesforce.com's annual Dreamforce conference in San Francisco has attracted over 135,000 registrants (online and in-person), making it the largest cloud and software industry event so far.  This compares to about 90,000 registrants last year. The event has about 350 partner companies exhibiting at the expo, as well as 1,200 sessions.

In his keynote address, Marc Benioff, Salesforce's Chairman and CEO, said his company is building the Internet of Customers by leveraging the changing workflows enabled by cloud applications. Salesforce recently achieved its first $1 billion sales quarter (up 36% YoY) and its ecosystem of partners and market share in cloud services continue to grow.

The company is introducing its new Salesforce1 Customer Platform for connecting apps, mobile devices and customer data.  The release includes new APIs and mobile tools to make it easier for companies to build sales and customer-support applications.

Salesforce.com and HP Announce Strategic Cloud Partnership

Salesforce.com and HP announced a strategic partnership in cloud computing.

The companies will create a new "Salesforce Superpod" --  a dedicated instance in the Salesforce multi-tenant cloud, running on HP's Converged Infrastructure. The companies plan to jointly develop and market the Salesforce Superpod to large enterprises. HP intends to be the first customer to be deployed on a Salesforce Superpod.

"The Salesforce Superpod will allow individual customers to have a dedicated instance in the Salesforce multi-tenant cloud, powered by HP's technology and fully managed within salesforce.com's world-class data centers."
