Infovista acquires Empirix, adding monitoring, assurance, analytics

Infovista has acquired Empirix, a Thoma Bravo portfolio company. Financial terms were not disclosed. As part of the operation, Thoma Bravo becomes a minority shareholder of Infovista, with Apax Partners remaining the major shareholder.

Empirix is a leader in network and service testing, performance monitoring, assurance and analytics. It serves Tier 1 CSPs and large Contact Centers of Fortune Global 500 companies. Empirix has invested heavily since 2017 to develop KLERITY, which is a cloud-native monitoring, assurance and analytics solution for 5G and IoT. Empirix is headquartered in Billerica, Massachusetts, and employs approximately 300 people worldwide.

Infovista said the acquisition extends its ability to serve CSPs globally and expands the capabilities of its cloud-native, open platform which manages the entire network lifecycle. This enables the digital transformation of CSPs and the acceleration of 5G deployments while delivering unprecedented efficiency and productivity levels in managing both 5G and legacy networks. It also enables CSPs to deploy new revenue generating services from digital services, IoT, network slicing and monetization of data and network assets.

“The union of Infovista and Empirix gives all our clients a unique opportunity to reap the benefits of 5G, IoT and private networks, and to move fast towards a software-based and cloud-native future. By bringing network lifecycle automation to a strategic level, we provide CSPs with new ways to improve their productivity, customer experience and time-to-market,” commented José Duarte, CEO of Infovista. “With this acquisition, we also increase our presence in North America and Europe to expand our global footprint and strengthen our ability to help clients accelerate their network and business transformation.”

“Telco CTOs today face a complex technology landscape with a large number of vendors. They are looking to support innovation and increase efficiency of operations through automation,” noted James Crawshaw, Principal Analyst at Omdia. “Empirix’s cloud-native assurance and analytics solutions should round out Infovista’s existing portfolio of solutions that span the network lifecycle. Better network visibility and increased automation are key to supporting the business goals of CSPs in the 5G era.”

“The industry is looking at 5G standalone and network slicing as the next major engines for business growth especially around IoT and private network opportunities. Empirix helps deliver the promise and full benefits of these exciting technologies with its cloud-native and automated customer experience assurance and analytics,” added John D’Anna, CEO of Empirix. “This is the perfect time for Empirix to join Infovista, expand the market for KLERITY and take it to the next level.”

ZTE and InfoVista certify interoperability of SD-WAN

ZTE and InfoVista, a major provider of network performance orchestration solutions, announced the completion of interoperability testing of their combined SD-WAN (software-defined WAN) solution based on integrating InfoVista's Application Performance Orchestration Solution, Ipanema, with ZTE's Micro Cloud Gateway (MCG) platform.

After successful verification testing, the combined SD-WAN solution provides a single box overlay networking solution for hybrid WAN connectivity that guarantees the performance of critical business applications while also supporting a secure overlay VPN, zero touch installation and one-button recovery. The joint product is designed to offer a cost effective solution for enterprises seeking to reduce IT networking costs.

In addition, Service providers can also utilise the new platform to deliver value-added SD-WAN services to enterprise customers as they implement hybrid WANs and seek to augment their enterprise networks.

The combined SD-WAN solution can replace a range of enterprise and communications equipment deployed in traditional WANs, enabling fast distribution, deployment, data backup, and disaster tolerance one-button recovery on a cloud-managed platform.

The joint solution provides enterprises with Application Performance Orchestration capabilities designed to protect and guarantee the end user experience for business-critical applications that form the basis for digital transformation strategies.

Recently, BT announced the launch of BT Connect Intelligence InfoVista-as-a-Service, a new application performance management solution delivered in the cloud that offers a scalable as-a-service pricing option for its applications performance management portfolio. The service provides InfoVista's Ipanema technology via the BT cloud and is designed to provide the capabilities organisations require to orchestrate the performance of business applications running across the network.

Earlier this year, InfoVista announced that BT business EE, the largest mobile network operator in the UK, had selected its Ipanema application-aware SD-WAN solution to protect the performance of in-store applications. EE was to deploy the Ipanema solution across all of its 553 stores via BT's managed service Connect Intelligence.

BT launches InfoVista application performance management

UK incumbent telco BT has announced the launch of BT Connect Intelligence InfoVista-as-a-Service, a new application performance management solution delivered from the cloud that offers a scalable as-a-service flexible pricing option to BT's applications performance management portfolio,

The new BT Connect Intelligence. It offering delivers InfoVista's Ipanema technology via the BT cloud infrastructure and is designed to combine the capabilities organisations require to orchestrate the performance of business applications running across the network. The solution provides enterprises with greater flexibility and cost control when managing critical applications across the corporate network, irrespective of the connection type or bandwidth used.

The software underpinning the new solution is delivered from BT's cloud infrastructure and can be managed by users over the Internet. This model helps to speed implementation and allows self-service and availability over any WAN infrastructure. The Ipanema software provides capabilities including application visibility and control, WAN optimisation and dynamic path selection functions.

BT noted that Connect Intelligence InfoVista-as-a-service is designed to support organisations' digital transformation initiatives as they increasingly rely on dynamic network services, and to allow them to gain the flexibility and cost benefits of software-defined networking (SDN) leveraging the existing network infrastructure. The new solution is available worldwide to existing customers and to organisations using other network providers.

The cloud is creating choices that never existed before. Through understanding those choices comes the confidence and the ability to harness change and do things that matter: get to market and innovate faster, keep costs down, and keep customers happy.

The new Connect Intelligence solution comprises part of BT's Cloud of Clouds portfolio strategy, designed to enable customers worldwide to connect securely to the applications and data required, regardless of where they are hosted and where they are based.
