Allot Lands $8 Million in Contracts from Three New Tier-1 Mobile Operators

Allot Communications announced three strategic wins totaling approximately $8 million.  These include:
  • A multi-million dollar order from a new Tier-1 mobile operator in Asia Pacific (APAC) for the Allot Service Gateway Tera and Allot ClearSee Network Analytics, to be integrated with its policy and charging systems for enabling data monetization.
  • A multi-million dollar order from a new multinational, Tier-1, mobile operator based in Latin America. The deal displaces an incumbent solution on the basis of performance and scalability and will allow the operator to drive new revenues through greater network visibility and customer engagement.
  • A multi-million dollar order from a new Tier-1 Mobile operator in EMEA for Allot Service Gateway Tera and Allot ClearSee Network Analytics for reporting and network visualization, as well as Allot Service Protector for DDoS protection.
Additionally, Allot said it received an expansion order for its Websafe Personal licenses from a Tier-1 operator in Europe, and signed a contract for an expansion order from a Tier-1 operator in North America, following a successful initial phase in Q1.

Allot to Acquire Optenet, a Security-as-a-Service Solution Provider

Allot Communications agreed to acquire the operations of Optenet, a global IT security company providing high-performance Security-as-a-Service (SECaaS) solutions to service providers and large enterprises worldwide, for approximately $6.5 million in cash plus a deferred payment of approximately $5.5 million to be paid over two years following closing.

Optenet is a pioneer and global leader of enabling SECaaS. The company is based in Madrid, Spain and was founded in 1997.

Allot said Optenet's products complement its existing security offerings, especially in the market of DDoS protection and anti-malware. The acquisition is based on an existing successful partnership that has already resulted in ten service provider customer wins, half of which are large tier-1 mobile operators.

"Our acquisition of Optenet will help Allot become a leading player in the consumer Security-as-a-Service market," said Andrei Elefant, President & CEO of Allot Communications. "We have been working with Optenet since 2013 and during that time we have won more than 10 service provider customers together, half of which are large tier one operators. In addition to bringing value to stockholders, this strategic move augments our position in the security market, strengthens our network operator value-added services approach, and complements our cloud and enterprise vision."

Allot Confirms Orders from 3 Top-Tier Mobile Operators

Allot Communications has secured orders from three of the world’s top ten telecommunication operators to assist in their LTE network rollouts. All three orders are from existing customers, including two in Europe and one in the United States. These operators will use the Allot Service Gateway as part of their initial LTE deployments.  Financial terms were not disclosed.

Allot recently announced availability of its pure-play, 3GPP-compliant Traffic Detection Function (TDF) for LTE networks for helping operators analyze subscriber behavior and monetize their broadband networks.
TDF - part of the 3GPP Release 11 LTE standard - provides network visibility to better analyze and respond to broadband traffic. Allot said its TDF-enabled Allot Service Gateway can be used by operators to monetize OTT traffic by leveraging application awareness and transaction information in order to deploy innovative pricing plans, drive new service revenues and increase customer loyalty.
“TDF brings with it the opportunity for carriers to implement business intelligence analytics and application-specific charging policies. This type of dedicated functionality is critical for carriers looking to add value to OTT providers like Facebook and Skype,” said Andrei Elefant, VP Marketing & Product Management of Allot Communications. “Allot is a market leader in TDF, and we are leading the change in standardizing this important technology to simplify operator networks and bring our customers the most powerful analytics tools available.”

Tekelec and Allot Test Interoperability on PCRF to Service Gateway

Tekelec and Allot Communications have completed Interoperability Testing (IOT) on a 3GPP Sd Diameter Interface between their systems. The companies are the first to announce IOT over the new Sd Diameter Interface, which communicates between the Tekelec Policy Server (PCRF) and Allot’s Service Gateway Sigma E Traffic Detection Function (TDF) in order to enable detection and enforcement control over applications.

The companies said the value of the Sd interface is that it enables operators to:

  • Create application-based service tiers and one-time offers through better application identification and control.
  • Extend policy intelligence and control to new traffic management functions.
  • Enable single unified traffic management for converged networks.
  • Simplify network architecture and operations by eliminating the need for a RADIUS interface between the TDF/DPI and the Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN). The Sd Diameter Interface allows operators to transfer some tasks the GGSN manages to the Policy Server, thereby removing the need for a separate connection between the TDF/DPI and GGSN.
  • Enhance Quality of Service (QoS) for applications such as video streaming and voice over LTE, both expected to be the largest generators of diameter messages by 2016 according to Tekelec’s LTE Diameter Signaling Index forecast.
