Fujitsu Enables Station-to-Station HD-over-IP Transmission in Japan

Fujitsu has developed a new High-Definition (HD) video encoder that is being used for station-to-station transmission between TV Asahi and All Nippon Network (ANN) affiliated companies. The new service enables high quality video transmission from station-to-station using inexpensive broadband public IP lines. Previously, HD video transmission required the use of special lines and mainstream billing using a pay-as-you-go plan.

The deployment uses MPEG4 AVC (H.264) encoding technology in Fujitsu's IP-9500 Video Encoder, which was first launched in November 2006.
