Norvergence Faces Shutdown Following Chapter 7 Filing

Norvergence, a provider of integrated voice and data services based in Newark, New Jersey, was forced into a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing that is likely to lead to a liquidation of the company's assets. Other service providers, including Global Crossing and BellSouth, immediately set-up hotlines to help Novergence's estimated 7,000 small business customers nationwide who are threatened by an imminent network shutdown. According to various media reports, The company's remaining employees were slated to work only through Thursday.
