Italy's FastWeb Builds Triple-Play, IP Last Mile Network with NetCentrex, HP, Cisco
FastWeb, an integrated communications provider in Italy, is deploying an IP-based, triple-play voice, video and data residential service in Milan. The network uses direct fiber connections to apartment buildings to deliver local and long distance telephony service featuring a web portal for managing "follow-me" call routing and voice mail. FastWeb expects the first phase of the network rollout to attract 200,000 users. HP serves as lead contractor and integrator for the project. NetCentrex is supplying softswitches for Class 4 call routing and Class 5 features, as well as the GUI application for the provisioning systems. Cisco Systems supplies IP switches and routing equipment.

  • NetCentrex products include a multi-protocol softswitch and media server platform, an application development and execution platform, and applications for multi-media call centers, VoIP VPNs, IP Centrex services, and residential telephony. The company was founded in December 1998 and is based in San Jose, California and Paris, France. Investors include CDC Innovation Partners, Crescendo Ventures, Innovacom Venture Capital, Intel Capital, Natexis Investissement, Newbury Ventures, T-Venture, Viventures.
