D-Link Touts "Green Ethernet" Technology
D-Link has trade marked the term "Green Ethernet" and introduced a series of environmentally-friendly small office/home office (SOHO) Gigabit switches that decrease energy costs by reducing power consumption without sacrificing operational performance and functionality. The company estimates power savings of between 20 and 80%.

The introduction of the D-Link DGS-2200 series multi-port desktop switches is part of an ongoing company-wide "Green" computing initiative.

The company said it is optimizing its devices for ENERGY STAR certification and providing consumer education and recycling programs.

In November, D-Link will broaden the program by adding its energy- efficient DGS-1016D 16-port and DGS-1024 24-port high performance rack mountable switches to its 'Green' technology lineup.

D-Link is also promoting a white paper highlight energy-saving initiatives.
