Converge! Network Digest is launching a new Network Greenscope series to track the many advancements in eco-efficiency in network silicon, systems, architectures and applications. We are interested in innovations across all layers of the network that help improve overall eco performance.  Topics of interest include:

Service Provider Eco-Initiatives, including overall carbon reduction programs, low-power equipment purchase guidelines, alternative energy initiatives, e-billing programs, tele-presence and telecommuting policies, campus redevelopment programs, best practices for corporate responsibility, etc.

Tele-presence and other network services -- measuring the overall eco impact of the network.

Energy-Efficient Data Center designs, including lower-power servers, switches, packet processors and virtualization technologies

Greener wireless infrastructure, including energy-efficient radios base stations and backhaul equipment, solar and other alternative energy power sources

Low-power silicon and next-gen equipment design for carriers, enterprises and consumers, including or routers, switches, packer processing platforms, modems, gateways, etc.

Better broadband infrastructure, more efficient network access infrastructure and the recycling of obsolete gear.

Network sharing, the virtualized network model and VPN services.

Fiber Optics and energy usage  extending from photonic components through optical backbones

Regulatory and Industry Efforts to improve the eco-efficiency of networks

Start-up Companies specifically focused on developing breakthroughs in any of the areas above.

The format for this on-going series includes

Daily News Feed -- the best way to submit items for possible inclusion in our newsletters and Web site is to e-mail your announcement directly to us, preferably before it hits the wire.  We welcome you to include us on your press release e-mail distribution lists by sending appropriate news releases to convergedigest@gmail.com.

Contributed articles in our Blueprint: Network Architecture series.  Our Guest Columns are intended to foster discussion of next generation networking technologies and architectures.

Guest Columns should be written for the "architects of next generation networks."  Our audience includes key executives at major service providers, large enterprises, government labs, network equipment suppliers and integrators, and the financial community.  Please assume a very high-level of technical expertise, but do not submit an engineering brief.  The column should be about how the technology is improving eco-efficiency and not a product pitch.

Guest Columns should be approximately 1,500 words, and in no case more than 2,000 words in length.

To get started, please send a one-paragraph abstract of your proposed topic to
convergedigest@gmail.com

Subscription Requirement -- Converge! Digest is a subscription-based publication widely distributed throughout the industry.  Companies interested in presenting their views in our publication need to be subscribers.  Subscription pricing starts at $500 per year for 240 issues of the publication.  Monthly subscriptions start at $29. If your company is not already a subscriber, please enroll here

One Minute Videos -- which will define the key terms and concepts in network eco-efficiency, such as "Low-Power Base Stations", "Wi-Fi Energy-Efficiency in 802.11v,"

The One Minute videos present expert explanations of key network technologies in "about a minute."  For each production, we collaborate with industry experts who are actively involved in developing, standardizing, commercializing the technologies.  These are paid productions and there is a one-time charge for filming, producing, distributing and hosting the video. .  The fee includes one year of unlimited play, a 10-second commercial, and the ability to include the video as part of your own website.

If your company is interested in participating in this program, please contact us for available terms, production schedules and rates.
