Convergent Networks Introduces PacketCable Call Management Server
Convergent Networks introduced a Call Management Server (CMS) designed for new primary line VoIP services delivered over cable networks. Convergent Network's new ICSX CMS, which is based on PacketCable specifications, provides a full Class 5 softswitch solution by performing call agent, gate controller, media gateway controller, and announcement controller functions. The CMS platform supports basic and enhanced residential features, including requirements for cable operators who choose to deliver primary line services using VoIP, such as E911, operator services, busy line interrupt, CALEA, warm dial-tone and local number portability. The call management server scales from 5,000 to more than 100,000 subscribers in a 7-foot telco rack. The product is currently in beta release. Convergent Networks said it offers extensive third-party interoperability with a number of PacketCable-based products and partners.
