LEVEL 3 WINS CONTRACTS WITH SIX CARRIERS
Level 3 announced six contracts in Asia and North America.  In Asia, China Unicom (China’s second largest telecommunications carrier), Accelia, GlobalNet Telecommunications International, and Produce on Demand will use Level 3’s CrossRoads Internet access service, which provides global connectivity at port speeds up to 1 Gbps.  In the United States, France Telecom awarded Level 3 a contract to obtain a 2.5-gigabit per second circuit between New York and California using Level 3’s (3)Link Private Line service.  The new circuit quadruples France Telecom’s transport capacity while it works to complete construction on its North American backbone network.  The (3)Link Private Line service provides dedicated amounts of bandwidth connecting two fixed locations while bypassing the public switched telephone network.
