COPPERCOM ACQUIRES DTI NETWORKS, COMBINING VODSL WITH SOFTSWITCHING
CopperCom will acquire DTI Networks, a privately held developer of central office softswitching solutions, for an undisclosed sum.  CopperCom develops Voice-over-DSL gateways and integrated access devices (IADs) supporting up to 16 voice lines over a single copper pair.  DTI Networks offers a Virtual Voice Services architecture and a CSX 2100 central office switching platform that essentially decouple call processing from switching.  The system leverages an XML-based Call Policy Mark-up Language (CPML) for online feature creation and call management. The company’s CSX 2100 is a NEBs-compliant switching platform designed for smaller central offices. It supports both Class 4 and 5 applications on a single platform, and offers capacity for up to 40,000 subscribers. CopperCom said the merger would enable it to lead the VoDSL market into the next phase of evolution beyond pure transport by including local exchange switching, standard voice calling features, and revolutionary personalized calling features.  CopperCom is based in Santa Clara, California.  DTI Networks is based in Boca Raton, Florida.  http://www.dtinetworks.com  http://www.coppercom.com
