WI-LAN DEMONSTRATES W-OFDM TECHNOLOGY FOR 30 MBPS MOBILE WIRELESS
Wi-LAN Inc. announced a mobile application of W-OFDM (Wideband Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) technology delivering up to 30 Mbps to mobile devices.  The demonstration, which was conducted with the California State Department of Transportation (Caltrans), used Wi-LAN's W-OFDM access devices for video streaming and file transfers at 30 Mbps between a traffic cabinet and a vehicle moving at highway speed.  W-OFDM effectively permits several independent channels to operate within the same band allowing multipoint networks and point-to-point backbone systems to be overlaid on one another in the same frequency band.  Wi-LAN is based in Calgary, Alberta (Canada).  http://www.wi-lan.com/news/press/press77.html
