SYCAMORE
LEADS COALITION FOR OPTICAL DOMAIN SERVICE INTERCONNECT
Sycamore Networks and a group of over 50 service providers
and networking vendors joined together to launch Optical Domain
Service Interconnect (ODSI), a coalition that will promote open
interfaces and signaling protocols that will allow higher-layer
service networks to interoperate with an evolving and dynamic
optical core. The
goal is to enable networking devices to signal the optical network
to dynamically request high-speed bandwidth connections.
The group does not plan to be an independent or
broad-reaching standards organization.
Its members will collaborate on a technical specification,
utilize interoperability testing to validate and confirm technical
solutions, and promote agreed-upon recommendations within relevant
standards bodies and industry consortiums.
. Sycamore will
host the first ODSI meeting in Boston on January 18, 2000.
