FUJITSU
REPORTS SURGING DEMAND FOR OC-192 TRANSPORT
Fujitsu
Network Communications will double its current production capacity for its
FLASH-192 10 Gbps optical transport system over the next year to meet
surging market demand. The
company will invest $500 million in production facilities.
The FLASH-192 system is a SONET add/drop multiplexer designed for
interoffice and interexchange carrier networks.
By next year, Fujitsu anticipates demand for 1,000 FLASH-192
systems per month -- 10 times what it was at the beginning of 1999.
Fujitsu also offers a FLASHWAVE WDM system capable of carrying up
to 32 channels of up to OC-192; a unidirectional WDM solution that
supports up to 16 channels of OC-48; and a bidirectional Metro solution
that can transport eight channels of OC-48 in each direction on a fiber.
