Alpheus Communications Deploys Hatteras
Alpheus Communications is deploying Hatteras Networks' HN6100 Multi- Service platform for Ethernet service delivery via Ethernet-Over-Copper (EoC) and Ethernet-Over-Time-Division Multiplexing (EoTDM) infrastructures.

Alpheus is pursuing an "Ethernet Everywhere" strategy across Texas. The carrier has over 5,700 miles of Texas fiber, colocations in more than 85% of the AT&T central offices in six of the largest cities in Texas (Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Houston and San Antonio), and hundreds of other on-net access points in the primary commercial districts. Alpheus delivers gigabit Ethernet, metro network transport, co-location, and point-to-point business services.

Hatteras' HN6100 is a modular, multi-service platform enabling Ethernet service delivery over any media, via any port or slot, from a single chassis. The 40 Gbps HN6100 is a two-rack-unit Ethernet switching platform that delivers Ethernet-over-Copper, Ethernet-over-TDM and Hatteras' PWE3-plus (native TDM & Ethernet for Mobile Backhaul). Line card options include 16 port EFM, 16 port T1/E1, 3 port DS3 (Clear & Channelized). For EFM, the HN6100 is capable of 32-pair bonding, which could deliver up to a 480 Mbps pipe (15 Mbps per pair X 32 pair bonding). The same HN6100 multi-service chassis will also support Ethernet over Fiber in the future.
